February 25, 2017 / East Jordan Civic Center / East Jordan, Michigan
MCPW returned to the Civic Center in East Jordan to celebrate our Ten Year Anniversary Event and it was indeed a wild night of action. All roads now lead to Battleground 9 in May, but let’s recap what happened in East Jordan.
Jumal Kyng made his return to East Jordan and locked horns with “The Black Diamond” Jack Price, who was making his MCPW debut. Both men impressed the crowd with a hard-fought battle. In the end, Kyng was able to secure his second straight win. MCPW officials are sure to take notice.
In honor of MCPW’s Ten Year Anniversary, a special veteran v newcomer match was presented as former MCPW Tag Team and No Limits Champion Frankie the Face (w/ “The Hype” Jimmy Shalwin) battled the debuting Alex Beardslee. Face is an accomplished competitor, having shared the ring with Goldust at Battle Ground 5 in addition to his multiple title reigns. Beardslee gave him all he could handle, but Face pulled out the win.
After the match, Beardslee offered a show of respect with a handshake, and was promptly attacked by The Antagonists. Seeing this unfair advantage, Max Morrison came out to the rescue, wielding a kendo stick! Morrison supported the new blood in MCPW, and challenged Shalwin to a match right there on the spot!
Max Morrison, with Beardslee in his corner, defeated Shalwin, with Face in this corner. These two have squared off many times over the years, and their knowledge of each other showed. Morrison was the better man this night, picking up a big win, but the issue between these four is far from over.
Right before intermission fans were treated to a huge tag team match. The Death Threat Army of Aaron Orion & Christopher Saint (w/ MCPW Heavyweight Champion Mikey Zeroe) took on Caden Ames & Cory Lyon (w/ So Fly Combat League’s Conrad Loucks). Both teams showed incredible teamwork, and they took the fans on a rollercoaster ride. Zeroe interfered in the match on several occasions, and when Loucks intervened to stop him, Zeroe cowardly kicked him in the groin. Ames was fed up with Zeroe’s meddling and took him to the floor with a clothesline. That left Lyon all alone and prey to the double-team, and DTA picked up the win.
Another veteran v newcomer match saw “The End of the World” Jake Omen defeat the debuting “Suplex Shogun” Jackson Stone. While Stone was impressive, Omen was simply too much for him. After the win, Omen challenged “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes for Battleground 9. What’s going to happen here? Stay tuned for updates.
In one of the biggest main events in MCPW history, Team You Only YOLO Once (Jack Verville & Adam Sniper, w/ Head of Staff Adam Craft) defended the MCPW Tag Team Titles against The Handicapped Heroes (Zach Gowen & Gregory Iron). Dissension was in the air, as Verville seemed more aggressive and abuse towards his own partner than usual. That proved to be their undoing, as the unified Heroes pulled off a big win and captured the MCPW Tag Team Titles!
After the match, The Death Threat Army, who had been watching the match from the balcony, motioned that they are next in line for a shot at the titles.
Then, a frustrated Verville took his anger out on Sniper, who finally had enough. Sniper was ready to fight Verville, who left his Head of Staff to take a devastating Jackhammer.
